Baton Rouge Boudoir - Prepping for Pretty

Updated March 4, 2021

So, you've booked your session, you've reviewed the wardrobe & styling guide, and you've received lots of emails leading up to your session.

Now what?

Arriving to the studio

I always recommend arriving to the studio about 5 minutes early to ensure you're at the right spot. I have provided you with our studio address along with instructions on how to get there, where to park, etc, etc.

When you arrive, you'll bring your wardrobe & accessories inside and will be greeted by me, Angela Hoppe.

Pro Tip:

1. GPS the location the day before your session so you know exactly how long it will take you.

2. If you choose to bring a friend with you, they must be over 18 and will be required to wait in the viewing area once the photoshoot begins.

Hors d'oeuvres

...pronounced "or-derves" is a fancy name for appetizers. I have fully stocked our studio just for you. You will find several beverage options such as mimosas, wine, water, juice, and coffee as well as several snack options such as Kind Bars, chips, string cheese, beef jerky, or snack cakes. This spread will be available to you for the duration of your session.

If you have a food allergy or a restricted diet, please let me know! I want to be sure I have something you will enjoy!

Pro Tip: Drink the wine, it'll calm your nerves.

Hair & Makeup

Your first stop on the boudie train is hair & makeup with our professional hair & makeup artist. You and the artist will chat about your desires and together you will determine the best look for your session.

While the two of you are working on hair & makeup, I will hang your garments, set out your lingerie, and place your accessories so they can all be seen. We will chat about your comfortability regarding posing and exposure, your desired outcome for the session, and we will chat lots about your life!

This part of the day will take approximately 60 minutes.

Pro Tips:

1. Wash your hair the day before your session and be sure your hair is dry.

2. It is a good idea to exfoliate your face & body 2-3 days prior to your session.

3. If you have sensitive skin, I recommend bringing your usual foundation.

4. Come with a clean and makeup-free face.

5. Wear a button down shirt so you don't mess up your hair & makeup.

Photo Time

Once the hair & makeup artist has finished up her work, you will change into your first wardrobe piece and we will begin our shoot! We always save your most favorite piece for last because that is when you'll be the most comfortable and confident.

Your photoshoot will take approximately 90 minutes.

Pro Tips:

1. Breathe. I will coach you through posing and facial expressions.

2. You will be holding positions for several seconds at a time - be sure to stretch in the weeks leading up to your session so you aren't sore after!

3. Give your fingernails & toenails a fresh coat of paint. Chipped polish is required to be removed before we start your session.

4. Stay away from artificial tanners. Tan lines or smudges from tanners will not be removed in post-processing.

Massage + Same Day Edits Boudie Buck Redemption

Your session may come with a 60 minute massage (model calls + quickies are excluded) which is done by a local licensed massage therapist immediately following your session. She will arrive just as we are finishing up our shoot, set up her equipment and then begin.

If you are not familiar with getting a massage, it's your time to RELAX. The LMT will ask you questions about your comfortability and problem areas and then you get to turn your brain off and enjoy. While you are snoozing, I will be working on your gallery.

Occasionally it will take me a bit longer than your massage to complete your gallery. If this happens, you are free to continue your nap, sit in our viewing area, or visit local eateries.

Pro Tip: Don't be afraid to communicate with your massage therapist if the pressure is too light or too hard. She is there to make you relaxed, so if you're not enjoying it then you aren't relaxed.

Viewing Session

Your viewing session will take place right after your massage, if you chose same day edits. If you did not redeem this incentive, your images will be ready to view within 48 hours. I will have your images there for you to look at and narrow down which ones you can't live without.

If you have pre-purchased your products or images, we will get straight to the nitty gritty details - like what album cover you'd like or which images you'd like for your wall art.

If you have not pre-purchased your products or images, why not? You have up until 72 hours before your session to choose a collection and receive Boudie Bucks!

If you prefer to wait to purchase your products or images at the session, you can totally do that. Keep in mind, full payment is due at your session. We will look through product samples, you'll get to run your fingers over the details, and once your decision is made we will begin creating your artwork!

Pro Tip: If you are planning to use PayPal credit to cover your products, I recommend applying before your session to ensure you qualify. You may not be approved for the entire amount, in which case you may need to supplement with cash or credit card. It's good to be prepared for this. You can apply for PayPal credit here.

Products

Once we have concluded our viewing, you will head out and I will start working on your final edits and product mock ups. Within 48 hours of your Viewing Session you will receive a proof to approve.

Once ordered, products typically take about 14 business days to arrive. Once they do, I will do a thorough review to ensure quality control and package them perfectly. You may schedule a pickup time from the studio. If you are not local, you are more than welcome to pay an additional fee to cover shipping directly to you; this is typically $40.

Pro Tip: Pick your products up from the studio - when products are shipped directly to you, you miss out on our stellar packaging!
